[ALEXANDER I Romanov]. Handwritten copy of a letter from Tsar Alexander I to an unnamed Vasily Sergeyevich (Lanskoy), dated. 27 V 1815.
Manuscript drawn up in the epoch, double-sided, on 2 cards form. 23.2x19 cm, in Russian. Neat handwriting, without deletions or corrections, under the text the Tsar's signature "Aleksandr" (by the hand of the copyist). The letter concerns Russian internal administration officials temporarily appointed as overseers (nadziratelej) and their assistants (pomoščnikov) in the territories of the former Duchy of Warsaw. Since the reasons for which they were entrusted with their offices have ceased, the tsar instructs the addressee to work out a plan with Nikolai Novosilcov for the gradual dismissal of the aforementioned officials from service. He orders the preparation of named rosters stating their positions, the amount of salary they received, their opinions and the locality in Russia from which they came. The rosters should also include a description of the course of the officials' service, a list of awards and honors. The process of dismissing officials should take 5 months counted from the date of the letter. The addressee of the letter was Vasily Sergeyevich Lanskoy (1754-1831) - a Russian general, from March 14, 1813 to June 9, 1815, acting governor-general of the Duchy of Warsaw on behalf of Russian Emperor Alexander I Romanov. He resided in the noble village of Drwalew near Grojec, in the Tomkiel estate. Traces of folding, small trace of woodworm on lower margins, stains, nevertheless good condition.
