CLAUS Hugo - All the sadness of Belgium. Translated from the Dutch by Axel Holvoet, Zofia Klimaszewska. Warsaw 1994; PIW. 8, s. 648, [4]. Original cardboard binding.
Covers slightly rubbed, otherwise very good condition. On the pre-title page handwritten signature of the author.
Hugo Claus (1929-2008) - Flemish writer, poet, playwright, film director and painter, one of the most awarded Dutch-language writers. He used numerous pseudonyms, i.e. Dorothea van Male, Jan Hyoens and Thea Streiner. In 1983 he published his most famous work, "All the Sadness of Belgium," a partially autobiographical novel. He was repeatedly typecast as the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. He has been translated into Polish several times. In the 1950s he belonged to the avant-garde art group Cobra, which brought together writers, poets and painters from Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. He had previously spent time in Paris, where he was among the Surrealists, and was strongly influenced by Antonin Artaud [...] [Wikipedia].
