"On the extraordinary military power of GnaeusPompey" (Latin:"De imperio Gnaei Pompei") is Cicero's first political speech, from the time of his praetorship (66 BC), also known as "Pro Lege Manilia /or Maniliana/." The oration was delivered to convince the comitia of the necessity of giving Gnaeus Pompey special powers, in the war against King Mithridates VI of Pontus.
