A synthetic outline of Poland's history with special emphasis on its positive sides. The book aroused wide interest and made a great impression not only in Poland. It was soon translated into German, French, English, Romanian and Bulgarian. A must-read for anyone interested in Polish and European history. The book has sometimes been criticized for viewing Polish history too positively - for failing to see its flaws. Its author has invariably responded to these accusations by saying that much has been written about the negatives, while hardly any has been written about the positives, and that his book attempts to make up for this lack.
