CHOŁONIEWSKI Antoni - Immortals. Fotografie literatów lwowskich. Lvov 1898 [Druk. Narodowa F. K. Pobudkiewicza, Cracow]. 16d, pp. [2], 104, [1]. Late fep. binding.
Minor stains, good condition. Trace of ex-libris (?) on front cover. Pencil notation at end: "From Franciszek Sedlaczek, 17/9 963"). On the front end page a handwritten note: "Ex. confiscated." Blackened text fragments in four places (pp. 15, 22, 23, 35), including text concerning Waclaw Koszczyc in its entirety. Next to the confiscated fragments, the typed sheets of the disputed text were pasted. For example, a passage (in bold here) about Izydor Kuncewicz was removed: "In Lviv, he is the only piece of literature that comes from a family of saints. However, he himself has no outstanding aspirations in this direction." Next to Platon Kostetsky, the phrase was removed: "Famous is his prayer beginning with the words: In the imia Otca, Spirit, Son, it is our mollytva, as trojca so only Polszcza, Rus and Lytva." Literary portraits ("photographs") of nearly 50 writers associated with Lviv.
