The Poet and the Madmen is a collection of sensational short stories whose protagonist is Gabriel Gale a distracted poet and inspired painter. Although at first glance he looks like a man completely detached from reality and living in his own imaginary world, he turns out to be capable of solving the most complicated detective puzzles thanks to his extraordinary intuition and ability to think creatively. His superiority over others comes from the fact that he does not remain a prisoner of the five senses, but perceives a deeper, spiritual dimension of reality. Some see his behavior as madness, but in fact it is a freedom from schemes and conventions, which allows him a fresh perspective just like that child in Andersen's fairy tale, who was the only one to see that the king was naked. He learned the truth because he was free from the voice of public opinion and the pressure of the majority.
