Histoire de la scission ou division arrive'e en Pologne le XXVII. Juin M.DC.XCVII. Au sujet de L'Election d'un Roy.
Per M. de La Bizardiere. Paris 1699. chez Jean Jombert. (16 x 9.5 cm), f. [5], pp. 261, [1], vignettes in woodcut, period binding, gilt lettering and decoration on spine.
(Estr. T. 13). The preface states that this work is the second part of the publication "Histoire des dietes de Pologne" and that the Poles themselves commissioned the writing of this work, having provided the author with all the necessary instructions. (Estr.) The work describes the interregnum period after John III and the election of a new king. On June 27, 1697 August II was proclaimed king by a minority of the nobility at an electoral parliament. The majority then chose the candidate of the French Duke of Conti. August II, however, took advantage of the Frenchman's passivity, moving on Wawel and winning over a growing crowd of nobles along the way. Rubbing of the binding, traces of browning on the pages, otherwise good condition. 9200/29
