BEDNARSKI Janusz [1891-1908] young, promising poet, author of poems and dramatic works. Son of the headmaster of St. Jacek's Gymnasium in Cracow - Stanislaw Bednarski. After his untimely death, his works were collected and published by Józef Ujejski. Prominent Polish painter Jacek Malczewski immortalized him in his 1907 painting of a boy with wings. He is buried in Rakowicki Cemetery. The original tombstone bore the inscription: "He pleased God with his soul, and therefore he hastened to raise him from among iniquity" [Sap. IV, 14].
