Medulla - this was the basic manual of confessors and by 1776 had appeared in Catholic countries in more than 200 editions.
The contents of this manual were repeatedly criticized by some Catholic theologians outside Jesuit circles (mainly in France), as well as by the French Parliament, and the casuistrycontained in Medulla was used against the Jesuits during the French Parliament in 1772.
