Work dedicated in print to Aleksander Brückner, "tireless researcher of the history of seventeenth-century writing". The product of a continuation of the research work begun with "Literatura mieszczańska w Polsce XVII w.", published in 1925. In the publication presented here, Badecki collected and provided explanations for 21 rare texts from 1590 to 1655. Concluding the preface, he wrote: "Let's hope that the collective edition of these valuable monuments of Old Polish comedy writing will cause a renaissance of native elements in Polish comedy and that talent will be born that will benefit from these forgotten and unexploited elements."
