Szymon Askenazy (born December 28,[1][2] 1865 in Zawichost, died June 22, 1935 in Warsaw)[3] - Polish historian of Jewish descent, mainly concerned with international relations in the 18th and 19th centuries. He was a professor at the University of Lviv and then Warsaw. In his political views he was close to the Legion-Piłsudski camp. Askenazy never subscribed to any political party. The founder of the Lviv school of history, also known as the Askenazy school.
Dzwonkowski, mentioning S. Askenazy wrote: "He was a Jew by origin and religion, a Pole - by choice and fondness, a European - by culture and ultimate civilizational ideals" ("Droga" 1935).
