Maliszewski 3590. Minor rubbing of spine, otherwise very good condition. The story of the violent, romantic and unfulfilled love of an outstanding painter and a young girl coming from an old French-German family that had been Polishized for two generations in Lviv. Grottger met Wanda Monné when she was 16 years old. He was 13 years older than her. He had only two years of life ahead of him. The lovers' poignant letters and diaries, as well as unknown, unique documents in the family's possession, document their fate in detail and shed much light on Grottger's work. The Medyka Library was a private publishing house founded in 1925 in Medyka by two families, the Pawlikowski and Wolski families, who were friends and distinguished for Polish culture. Between 1925 and 1939, 15 titles, known here as "opuses," were published.
