Jozef Archutowski (1879-1944), Polish Roman Catholic priest, theologian, professor at Jagiellonian University and Warsaw University. He was a long-time dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Jagiellonian University. In the 1930s he was also superintendent of the All-Polish Youth at UJ. Before the 1938 Krakow City Council elections, he became a member of the Polish Catholic Bloc committee. After the outbreak of World War II, arrested on November 6, 1939 among Krakow professors as part of the Sonderaktion Krakau action against the Polish intelligentsia, he was deported to the Sachsenhausen camp. He was freed in 1940 thanks to, among other things, the intervention of the Holy See.
