A few pages more tightly trimmed, traces of soiling and rust spots on pages in places, poj. pages with edgewear, otherwise good condition. The work briefly presents profiles of the entire clergy of the Roman Church. In addition to the description, illustrative woodcut images are attached to the figures. The woodcuts include: Pope; Cardinal; Basilian Order; Templar; Nun of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary; Nun of the Secular Order of St. Catherine and others. Jost Amman (1539 - 1591) - Swiss engraver and painter. Active mainly in Nuremberg, he created portraits, stained glass designs and also copperplate engravings of French rulers with biographical descriptions. He illustrated the customs and costumes of his era (Hans Sachs' Book of States, Book of Women's Clothes). He mainly created illustrations for the Bible as well as for books by Boccaccio or Luther. For many years he worked together with Virgil Solis.
