"This is a fantastic story about the arrival on earth of twelve inhabitants of Mars. The Martians, possessing a much higher culture than ours, especially technical, originally intend to civilize the earth, but having met an unfriendly reception from humans, they decide to subdue it. They would probably have succeeded, since they have powerful technical knowledge, if it were not for the fact that some of them, dazed by the alcohol they find, murder their, superiors and die themselves. [...] The author has quite a rich imagination and stimulates the reader's imagination towards the wealth of possibilities hidden in the further development of natural knowledge, showing, however, that victory based on technical superiority is not sustainable without moral strength. This ethical motif, moreover, is not made quite clear." - z: "LIST OF BOOKS RECOMMENDED FOR SCHOOL LIBRARIES," WARSAW 1929.
