" Ignatius Krieger was born in 1817. He was a photographer, the creator of thousands of now highly regarded documentary photographs of architectural and art monuments, views of Krakow and portraits of the city's inhabitants and its environs, including Krakow's Jews. It is mainly thanks to his works that we can learn about old Kraków and the people who lived there at the time. In 1860, Ignacy Krieger established his atelier on Grodzka Street, where he photographed Krakow's bourgeoisie, Orthodox Jews, peasants from Galician villages and people of all professions. Of particular note was his documentation of the city. The subjects of his works were: architecture, monuments, important events in the city, technical development of city services. Ignacy Krieger died in 1889 and his grave is in the Jewish cemetery on Miodowa Street in Cracow. After his death, the "family business" was managed by his son Natan and daughter Amelia. They are also documentary photographers, whose works can be found on the following pages. "
