Text in Polish, title in Latin and introduction (double-spaced in Latin and Polish). The author of the work is Albert the Elder Margrave of Brandenburg. Divided into 7 chapters, the work describes, among other things, castles and fortresses, armories, military formations, marches of troops, ways of making ranks in battle, the pouring and setting up of camps. King Sigismund Augustus, while visiting the Prussian prince, viewed the work and was greatly impressed by it. The work after a few years (slightly reworked) he received as a gift from Prince Albert. Sigismund Augustus immediately instructed Maciej Stróbicz to translate the work into Polish. The manuscript of the book in Polish was completed in 1561, i.e. 6 years after the German piece was written. The fate of the book after the king's death is unknown, but it is known that it was in the possession of such noble figures as Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, Jan III Sobieski, Andrzej Stanisław Kostka Załuski, and Tadeusz Czacki. The editors of the offered edition decided "that without detriment to the public, they could omit the military part of the work almost in its entirety" in order to focus on things that "the Polish reader should care about." Unpaginated and soiled binding, spine reinforced, publisher's handwritten inscription on binding, poj. cards with un. Rust stains, p. XII and XIII glued, otherwise good condition. Rare.
