Double-sided manuscript on ark. 26.8x20.8 cm. Herbert thanks for his support: "the fact that you take care of my family, me and my work brings a blush to my face and a hiss of gratitude comes out of my throat." After many weeks of living "in nerves," the poet "got down to work harder." He plans to include American poems in the volume "Mr. Cogito." He is commenting on amendments to several poems suggested by the addressee. Currently, having finished "Acropolis," he is sitting down to "Unicorn." He complains about the lack of Polish books ("I don't even have 'The Lighthouse Keeper'"). He asks Najder to get Tatarkiewicz's "History of Philosophy" and "Aesthetics" and translations from classical literature. He conveys his wishes ("with his eyes fixed on the eastern distance") for Zdzislaw's upcoming name day. In one paragraph he writes: "I often try to picture you in Warsaw as you rush from Tyniecka to Oboźna Street or as you try to discover a man in a plumber. If it helps you even a little to picture me as I sit across from you and reach for a soplico with a trembling hand." Traces of folding, good condition.
