A guide to the exhibition presented at the ICC Gallery from March 8 to June 9, 2019. Can also be read as an independent publication devoted to the specifics of Central European avant-garde art of the first half of the 20th century.
The book is divided into 12 chapters devoted to, among other things, Central European Cubism, Constructivism and the theory of Unism, artists' involvement and reactions to the outbreak of World War I, the modern fascination with the city or avant-garde typography. Completing the guide are maps showing Central Europe before and after World War I, as well as a synthetic calendar of the most important events in the field of avant-garde art in the early 20th century.
The guide also includes excellent quality reproductions of paintings by almost a hundred avant-garde artists, including. Anton Jasusch, Bohumil Kubišta, František Foltýn, František Kupka, Gejza Schiller, Josef Čapek, Katarzyna Kobro, Leon Chwistek, Leopold Gottlieb, Rafał Malczewski, Sándor Bortnyik, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, Tadeusz Makowski, Teresa Żarnowerówna, Tytus Czyżewski, or Władysław Strzemiński, among others.
