Lot description

[master' s diploma - panorama of Warsaw]. Russian-language master's diploma of the painters' guild for Jan Caban, dated. 1/14 III 1903 in Ozorków.
Diploma form. 41.5x51.5 cm. Basic text in Russian, below its translation into Polish and French. Lithographed text, filled in by hand. Surrounded by an ornate, elaborate bordure reflected in gold and black paint, enclosed at the top by two groups of symbolic figures and a view of Warsaw from across the Vistula River. Against the background of the sky a tsarist eagle. The document is stamped, signed by the commissioner of the magistrate, the elder and the sub elder of the guild. Diploma cut into 15 parts glued together on canvas. Stains in places.
