Complete collection of engravings. The author is Antoni Oleszczyński (1794-1879), a prominent Polish printmaker, specializing in intaglio technique. The album was first published in Paris, in the printing house of Maulde and Renou in 1843. "Memories" is a work related to J. U. Niemcewicz's "Historical Songs." They were created at the request of compatriots in Philadelphia, USA, who asked Oleszczyński for memoirs and engravings about Poland, and he, indifferent to this call, collected those he already had ready and combined them with literary descriptions. The engravings feature views of Polish monuments of the past and numerous scenes from our history. Pages with text missing. Rubbing of the binding. Yellowing of the paper, otherwise good condition. Very rare. Lit. by Banach, Polish illustrated book, item 334.
