WEYSSENHOFF Joseph, Vie et opinions de Sigismond Podfilipski (...).
Paris bd. (1916 or 1949), Plon-Nourrit, IX p. +297p.
An ambiguous novel by Józef Weyssenhoff (1860-1932), first published in Poland in 1898 and in France in 1911. The work, maintained in the form of a panegyric in honor of the title character, is in fact a satire on aristocratic circles, the weaknesses of modern civilization and the shallowness of positivism. Text in French translated by Paul Cazin (1881-1963) writer and translator of Polish literature, including Mickiewicz, Sienkiewicz, Tuwim, Reymont. With an introduction by Jacek Ligęza at the beginning.
Contemporary binding, full cloth in bdb condition; interior in bdb condition, occasional stains, but dry; overall bdb condition.
Total of 2 volumes.
