Edition in Hetzel's famous outhouse of Hetzel's description of his travels in Russia, from Moscow along the Volga, the Caspian Sea to the Caucasus. Author Alfred Koechlin-Szwartz (1829-1895) was an industrialist and French politician of the Third Republic with a passion for travel. The print being sold is the aftermath of his expedition undertaken in 1879 starting in Moscow and ending in the Caucasus. At the end of the text is a period-colored fold-out map, larger than the book's format, showing the expedition's route. A unique description of the trip and a kind of guide to Russia and the Caucasus more than 140 years ago.
