A collection of 5 novellas, stories for young people about morals and virtues by two French authors known only by name and initials, from the first half of the 19th century. The series of the Library of Moral Youth was intended to be the basis for the proper upbringing of future generations. The text is beautifully illustrated with a frontispiece engraving with a scene from the novellas.

Period binding, beautiful gilt and embossed romanesque binding in rose-gold; floral romanesque designs on front and back covers; binding in db condition with minimal rubbing, especially on spine and corners; spine embossed and gilt with title and floral and geometric designs, with small rubbing at bottom; interior in db condition; information on front pastedown that book was a school prize in 1854; overall db condition.
