110. LEYNADIER Camille, Histoire des peuples et des révolutions de l'Europe depuis 1789 jusqu'à nos jours.(...).
Paris 1846, Bureau de la Librairie Historique, 2 k. +401 s.
Interestingly illustrated first original edition of the history of revolutions and upheavals in European countries. Volume one of eight in the set, it includes an extensive introduction and a description of the first country that the Author thought was noteworthy, Poland. The text is wonderfully decorated with 5 signed intaglio prints. The first two depict American heroes including, on the frontispiece, George Washington himself. The other three are about Poland. Thefirst is aportrait of Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The second is acurio engraving "Stanislas Auguste. Roi de Pologne," but depicting, in fact, not the last king of the Noble Republic, Stanislas August Poniatowski, but Stanislas Leszczynski. The third is a very rare example of a print depicting an allegorical scene of the oath of Tadeusz Kosciuszko.
Period binding, decorated and gilt green half leather in average condition with some rubbing and loss mainly at corners; spine gilt and embossed with title; inside condition db, occasionally stains but dry; overall average condition.
