A beautifully illustrated original edition of a journey from Tbilisi to Constantinople. The author Bernard Rottiers (1771-1857) was a Belgian officer in the service of Tsar Alexander I, and in 1818 made the trip, the description of which is the subject of the book being sold. Text illustrated with 7 plates, including one with the Georgian alphabet. In addition, 3 fold-out maps larger than the book format showing: the city of Constantinople; the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles; and the entire itinerary of the trip. Rare!
