Lives of the Holy Martyrs of the Church collected in chronological order by the Author Father Thierry Ruinart (1657-1709), a Benedictine monk of the congregation of St. Maur. The work begins with the martyrdom of St. James, as the first bishop of Jerusalem. Of the more famous Martyr Saints, the lives of Saints Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Felicitas, Lawrence, Felix, etc. are described. In addition, the old-print contains the lives of other lesser-known saints who gave their lives for the Church in its first centuries of existence. The treatise in two volumes in a complete set including in the last volume an alphabetical list of saints and all martyrs. At the beginning of each volume amini engraving with a scene of prayer.
