147 DECREE OF THE GUBERNOR OF GALICIA PETER VON GOESS concerning the supply of bedding and mattresses to military hospitals.
Lvov 13 XI 1813, 8 p .
An exceptionally interesting example of printing from the period just after the fall of the Republic from the Austrian partition. Decree of the Governor of Galicia ,Peter von Goëss (1774-1846), on the provision of mattresses and bedding to hospitals and military depots by Galician residents. The purpose of the decree was to force Galician residents to donate free mattresses, quilts and pillows needed due to the large number of wounded soldiers in connection with the campaign against Napoleon, defeated in Russia. The decree is crowned with an enumeration of which circular in which military warehouse the donated bedding should be deposited. The text parallels in two columns in Polish and German. At the end is the signature of Peter Graf von Goess, national governor. The last two pages are a table in German and Polish with dimensions in Viennese cubits, needed mattresses, quilts, pillows, sheets. Rare!
Booklet in poor condition; pages with folds at corners and losses without loss of text, loose; traces of soiling in lower margin; overall poor condition.
