First original unique edition of a dictionary of mineral waters in France. Author Pierre-Joseph Buc'hoz (1731-1807) was a physician, lawyer and author of numerous compilations and dictionaries especially on botany. The alphabetical dictionary discusses the various localities in France where mineral springs are found. The work is supplemented by a natural history, a hydrological bibliography, notes on fountains, methods of examining water, its composition and purity, or mineral content. Note: The author was the official physician to King Stanislas Leszczynski, Duke of Lorraine and Bar, for a period from 1759. This was the province where the Author was born and completed his medical studies. The work in two volumes complete. Missing from BNF and the antiquarian market. Very rare!
