Paris 1761, Durand, XVI p. +361 p.+5 s.
Acollection of literary texts from antiquity to the present day of the Author, Augustin Simon Irailh (1717-1794), French historian and Catholic clergyman. Volume one of the series of four comes complete with a unique superexibris with the coat of arms of Charles-Guillaume Le Normand d'Étiolles (1717-1799), royal advisor, chevalier d'honor in Blois and then royal secretary in 1760. In addition, the 20th century provenance of the old print is extremely valuable. It comes from the collection of Dr. Eugené Victor Olivier (1881-1964), a French fencer, 1908 London Olympic medalist, but above all an outstanding expert on French heraldry and superexlibris. He published, together with Georges Hermal and Captain Robert de Roton, the famous 30-volume work "Manuel de l'amateur de reliures armoriées françaises" [OHR bibliographic abbreviation from the initials of the authors' names]. The sold item in this huge collection bears the OHR signature pl. 1562, fig. n° 2. Rare.
