Brescia 8 X 1502, J. Britannicus, 140 k.
Postincunabula of 1502, being a collection of sermons by the Sicilian theologian and preacher, Blessed of the Catholic Church Pietro Geremia (1399-1452). The sermons mainly deal with saints, their memories, in the liturgical year, e.g. St. Andrew the Apostle, St. Blaise, St. Cecilia. The final sermon, on the other hand, leans towards praising theology as a science, "De laude scientiarum sed praesertim theologiae." The post-incunabula sold here is the sixth complete part of all the Author's sermons, seven of which were published in Brescia at the time. Exceptional Gothic printing in two columns with beautiful initials at the beginning of each sermon. Rare!
