The famous 7% Confederate cotton bond from the U.S. Civil War period 1861-1865. The Southern states, when seceding, acted like an independent state including issuing their own bonds for the war effort with the Union. Their main goal was to raise funds with their European partners, the cotton buyers of the South - England and France. Decorative motifs with a vignette depicting a female figure with the Confederate flag against the sea sitting on piles of cotton.
