Temporary certificate of 5% long-term state loan of 1920, issued in Lviv during the 1920 Polish-Bolshevik War. The defense of Lviv during the Polish-Bolshevik War took place when the 1st Horse Army under Budyonny on the Red Army's southern flank (with Joseph Stalin as political commissar of the Soviet Southern Front) was advancing on Lviv. At that time, too, the people of Lviv stood up to defend their city. The Battle of Zadwór on the outskirts of Lviv, in which 318 of the 330 volunteer fighting Eaglets of Lviv were killed on August 17, 1920, stopped the Bolshevik advance on Lviv at that time.
