H. J. Chmielewski (Papcio Chmiel) (1923-2021) - one of the most famous Polish comic book artists. Among his most popular series are stories about the adventures of Romek and A'Tomek, who persistently try to humanize their companion monkey Tytus. The first story in the series appeared in 1957 in the pages of "World of Youth," with subsequent stories hosted there over the next several decades and published in separate albums. The last one came out in 2021, after the author's death. Two short films and one full-length film were based on them, as well as a computer game and a radio play. During the war, Chmielewski fought in the Warsaw Uprising, and after the end of the war he became associated with "World of Adventures" and "Youth World", where he worked as a cartoonist. He received many state awards for his work, but was most highly regarded for the Order of the Smile, awarded to him in 1973.
