Karol Malcz was one of the most prominent goldsmiths active in the Polish lands of the second and third quarters of the 19th century. In 1818 he traveled through the countries of Western Europe (he was in France, Germany, Holland, England, Austria, Hungary, Italy), during which he worked in well-known goldsmith workshops. After returning to Warsaw in 1827, he made master art in the workshop of Jan Maciej Schwartz. From 1828 he ran a store and workshop on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street (under different numbers), and in 1864 he handed over the factory to August Teodor Werner, although by 1867 the studio's silverware was signed `Malcz`, and the trademark was taken over by the new owner. On a number of occasions, Malcz's goldsmith's products were presented at exhibitions, where they gained great recognition.
