Pass tickets with a denomination of 1 penny were introduced on April 28, 1924, and were a type of paper money issued directly by the Treasury, rather than by the issuing bank, and temporarily replaced small coins, the shortage of which was felt in the market. These tickets were then gradually exchanged for coins or banknotes until June 30, 1932.
