Comments: A very rare example of this illusive 25 Cent banknote issued by the Selma Marion & Memphis Railroad company. These notes were printed and responded for by the institutions that managed to stay in business after the US Civil War. As seen by the vignettes this was an example of a pro-slavery mentality that lingered in the south after their defeat. From the haul of cottom bushels to the cotton flower seen on the reverse, this is one of the few surviving examples (and quite an exemplary one!) of a part of US history that is often looked over.
