Lot description
Russia (USSR) Badge of the Order of the Red Banner
37.45g. 36x43mm. Sold as seen. Throughout its history, approximately 581,300 Orders of the Red Banner were awarded. The Order of the Red Banner was the first Soviet military decoration, established on September 16, 1918, during the Russian Civil War. It recognized extraordinary heroism, dedication, and courage demonstrated on the battlefield. Initially, it was the highest military award in Soviet Russia until the introduction of the Order of Lenin in 1930.The insignia featured a red flag with the inscription "Proletarians of all countries, unite!" in Russian. Below the flag, there were symbols of a hammer and sickle, a plow, a torch, and a red star, representing the unity of workers and peasants. The order was worn on the left side of the chest, suspended from a red ribbon with white stripes along the edges.
