It was to recognize and honor the individuals who risked their lives for the Fatherland. Reproduction WW2 German 1939 Wound Badge awarded for three or four wounds received or lost limbs, partial loss of sight or hearing, disfigurement or brain damage suffered in the line of duty.The badge is worn below all other awards on the left of the chest.
