War Cross (Croix de Guerre) 1914-1917 - French military decoration.
Isosceles cross with expanding arms (cavalry cross) measuring 45 (with suspension) × 37 mm and a circular shield in the middle. Between the arms of the cross are two crossed swords, facing upward with their blades. On the obverse in the center of the shield is a bust of Marianne, wearing a Phrygian cap. In the rim of the shield is the inscription RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE (French Republic) and a wreath. On the reverse in the shield the date 1914-1917. cross with ribbon. All in very good condition.
