Lot description
Barac# 43-44; Silver; 3. Model (1902-1911), set of 2nd class, 2nd degree, Chinese production, consisting of gem, diameter 51.5 mm, silver, tlw. gold-plated and enamelled, with engraved coral cabochon in the center, the small coral cabochon is missing, 28.8 g, without shoulder band, and chest star, diameter 92.0 mm, silver, tlw. gold plated, tlw. Enameled, min. enamel flaking, with engraved coral cabochon in the center, the small coral cabochon missing, needle. The confusing diversity of the insignia of the 2nd model (1896-1902) of the Imperial Order of the Sublime Star of the Double Dragon approved by Empress Regent Tz'u-Hsi (1835-1908) on 7 February 1882 led to a new, uniformly designed 3. Model introduced in 1902 whose insignia was made in China. An official description of the new insignia is not known. The class designation is in man characters in the medallion ring on the 7- and 8-Uhr-Position. Until the reorganization of the Chinese religious system towards the end of 1911, the insignia of the 3rd model showed only small variations in size and in some details. In Europe, especially in France manufactured decorations give way tlw. but more clearly from the Chinese comments. The continuing rental figures on the award diplomas allow the conclusion that about 4000 insignia of all classes of the 3rd model came to the award between 1902 and 1911. This model was awarded until the end of 1911, when it was replaced by a completely redesigned, but due to the early end of the Empire (1912) only very short-lived religious system. ex Kunker 346/0941-2021; Condition-I-II
