Brettl: 2836, Serfas: 155, Wurzb: 2411; Silver 44,6 mm.; 43,50g.; Franz I (1804-1939); mint luster; beautiful dark violet patina; Av.: Belorberte busts of Joseph II. and Franz I. Rv.: BENE MERENTIBVS, Hygieia stands left with snake in hand. Medallist: I.D. Boehm; Joseph II had a large military hospital with an institute for training military doctors built near the General Hospital. After two years of construction, the building was opened in 1785. The Academy had the privilege to grant the doctoral degree and the title of Master in Surgery. Following the Napoleonic War, the Academy was closed in 1804 and reopened in 1824 after restoration. ex BOLAFFI 27/171-2015 from Fattovich Collection; Condition-I
