The triptych shows two famous samurai: Kato Kiyomasa (1562-1611) and Honda Tadakatsu (1548 - 1610). They duel on horseback in a battle on Mount Komaki (1584). The 1584 series of conflicts, known as the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, was fought between the forces of two major leaders of the Sengoku period: Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537-1598) and Ieyasu Tokugawa (1543-1616).Item is certified by the English Japanese Gallery Kensington.
