The subject of this auction is a carefully crafted set of four netsuke figurines cut from ivory depicting figures of monks and gods. The individual figurines depict the following characters:
1. Fukurokuju - god of wisdom and longevity, depicted as an elderly man with a long beard and high forehead: one of the Seven Gods of Happiness
2. yurōjin - god of longevity, holding a staff, which emphasizes his age and wisdom; also one of the Seven Gods of Happiness
3. a monk holding a basket of fish
4. second monk with folded hands The figurines are stored in an elegant wooden box, which adds to their class and facilitates their safe storage and presentation.
