The head is hand-forged from Japanese tamahagane steel with high resistance to chipping and mechanical injury. The 67.3 cm long shinogi zukuri type blade is selectively hardened. Regular, straight hamon suguha, cupping pattern (hada) with predominantly parallel layers (masame). The blade of the sword in very good condition and polish, without hagire or kizu, with small nicks and one very small loss on the ha (cutting edge). Chu-kissaki (tip) slightly elongated. The head was most likely shortened and reframed to suit the next owner. This is evidenced by two holes (mekugi-ana) in the nakago (stem).
Shōwa era (1912-1989) katana, mumei blade unsigned. Classic, elegant koshirae (binding) of the buke zukuri type with subdued colors. The setting is very well preserved, made with original elements from the EDO era (1603-1868): antique tsuba (sword guard) iron, Edo era, Kaneie school, with natural patina and water plant motif, mokko gata shape. Copper inclusions, gilded and intricate intaglio relief with a leaf. Seppa (separators) copper, blackened. Fuchi and kashira (handle fittings) antique, copper, with dragon motif. Classic silver-alloy habaki, with decoration in the form of grasses in the rain (Koshi-Yujo). Antique copper menuki (ornaments under the braid) with antique bronze patina, also depicting dragons. Handle (tsuka) wooden, covered with natural stingray leather (samegawa) in teal color. Braid (tsuka-ito) made of Japanese silk ribbon, dark green in color (tettsu). Katana joined by a single bamboo peg (mekugi).
Scabbard made of honoki (Japanese magnolia) wood, lacquered in brown-black color with flashes of red. The surface of the saya (scabbard) with a fine texture mimicking the porosity of stone (ishime). There is a horn hook (soritsuna) on the saya to prevent the sword from slipping out from behind the obi belt. The scabbard finishes (koiguchi, kurigata, kojiri) of black water buffalo horn. The whole is completed with gilded shitodome in kashira and kurigata. The sword fits very well, with no looseness or cavities. It can be completely disassembled into individual pieces for maintenance or replacement.
