Japanese o-sode (plate cuirass) armor, from the turn of the Taishō and Shōwa periods (1920-1930), made with traditional materials and traditional methods. The armor is complete, and all of its components are from the original set, with no interference with its substance (yogore also not removed). Materials: wrought iron, copper, bronze, brocaded silk, cotton and deerskin inserts. Black matte lacquered, plate armor, iron plates with bronze framing, indigo-colored cotton lacing, partially faded, no loss. The edges of the lacings are orange. Minor signs of age and use. Very good state of preservation.
Helmet of the hoshi-kabuto type, ten-plate. Complete with a mask (menpo) made of black-painted iron, with the expression of an angry man's face (resseibo) and with black mustache and five-stage jowl (nodawa). A two-step shikoro protecting the back of the neck. On the vertical jewel (maedate) the Buddhist symbol.
Kiris (dō) plate-like, eight-piece, plates joined by lacing. Sode (shoulder protection) six-piece, laced like the entire armor with indigo-colored ribbon. Sleeves (kote) with steel plate elements joined by a circular chainmail applied to brocaded silk with a floral motif (shinokote). Kusazuri also plate iron. Haidate (nabiodrniki) of laced iron plates, sewn on brocade backing. Nagolenniki (suneate) of vertical iron plates on a cotton backing. Belt (uwa-obi) in brown color, slightly faded.
Accompanied by a wooden stand and a dedicated case (yoroi bitsu) from the Shōwa era, decorated with the "Mae" ("first" / "one who ranks above the others") mark.
