The woodcut triptych "19 Vassals of Yoshitsune" depicts legendary samurai from the feudal period of Japan. The work is part of a series of works by Kuniyoshi that commemorate epic historical figures, especially heroes associated with Minamoto no Yoshitsune, one of the most famous warriors in Japanese history. The woodcut depicts Yoshitsune's loyal vassals who accompanied him on his war expeditions, famous battles and in moments of personal decline. Item is certified by the English Japanese Gallery Kensington.
