A kimekomi ningyō type doll in a glass display case. This is a classic example of the Japanese art of making traditional decorative figures. The doll's body is made of wood, while the hands and face are made of porcelain. The doll is dressed in a richly decorated kimono in shades of red and gold decorated with floral motifs. The outfit is made from fragments of real silk kimonos. In her hands the doll holds a traditional Japanese shinobue flute.
The entire piece is housed in an elegant glass display case with wooden trim, which emphasizes the collectible nature of the doll and protects it from damage.
The accompanying plate bears the signature: Sanshō Ryūki. The red stamp below is a confirmation of authenticity and quality workmanship. The doll and the display case are in very good condition. No visible damage, the silk kimono has retained its vibrant colors.
