Lot description
Made of ivory okimono depicting the figure of an elderly man in traditional Japanese costume, accompanied by a monkey. This figure is a street juggler - samurawashi. The sculpture stands out for its impressive size and richness of detail. The whole is set on a solid base giving the sculpture stability. The sculpture is signed on the underside. It has been subjected to conservation and has some minor restorations on the juggler's head and a larger filling on the barrel.
