Sosaku kokeshi is one of the two main styles of Japanese kokeshi dolls, along with the traditional style (dento kokeshi). The set includes: 1. an adorable little sosaku kokeshi created by the well-known artist, Fujikawa Masae. The artist decorated the red kimono of this doll with a delicate motif of butterflies and flowers carved into the wood. 2nd Unique kokeshi by Sekiguchi Toa of Gunma Prefecture. It features an original design. The narrow eyes and fine nose are typical of Sekiguchi's style. The red-orange kimono (with yellow obi belt) was richly decorated with ginkgo flower and leaf motifs, and the movable head refers to the traditional Naruko kokeshi.

3.A small sosaku kokeshi created by artist Sadao Kishi. The maroon kimono of this doll was decorated with white and gold kanji characters, which mean "journey" and "feeling," giving the doll a deep symbolic dimension. Perhaps it was an omiage, or gift from a journey. It is a so-called "singing doll". The doll has slight signs of wood splitting at the hair, a result of the passage of time.
Sadao Kishi began creating sosaku kokeshi in 1950 and has won many awards, including the Prime Minister's Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award.
